General Information
We have a small department that, by the dedication of the officers and support of the community, accomplishes big
tasks. The department currently consists of Chief Bearden and four part-time officers.
There are approximately 3,000 people in our city limits and police jurisdiction. Our patrol division covers about twenty square miles.
We currently have four Fords and one Dodge Charger. The vehicles are equipped with GPS tracking systems, radar, laptop computers with an internet connection to the
Alabama Criminal Justice Information Center (ACJIC) and Law Enforcement Tactical System (LETS), and printers. Officers carry Glock pistols (9mm, 40 cal, 45 acp), and are assigned patrol rifles and
shotguns. Additionally, all officers are trained in the use of, and are issued, Tasers (Electronic Control Devices), OC (Oleoresin Capsicum) Spray, and other less-lethal weapons.
